Yesterday Restaurant is the true definition of a hidden gem. It is located in a very quiet street on the outskirts of Vila de Gràcia, just a few minutes away from Via Augusta, which in contrast, is one of the busiest avenues in all of Barcelona. The concept of this restaurant is extremely unique: they only open from 9 to 5 from Monday to Friday and their menu changes practically every day. In here you can either get variations of a normal “lunch menu”, something that is common in several other places, or you can get a full tasting menu in order to try all the dishes they have to offer on a specific day.
We were really happy to recently feature this restaurant in our new neighborhood guide Unwind: Vila de Gràcia. Their incredible Taiwanese-Style Ribs Recipe also forms part of our Gràcia publication, so if you’re interested in acquiring a digital version of our book, you can get it here. Our opinions
Eeva – “If I could, I would eat in Yesterday every day. What makes this place very special is that you have so many different options. Whether you’re looking for a traditional tortilla de patata or perhaps an interesting asian / south american fusion dish, you’ll find it there. The constantly changing menu is genius because you’ll always have something new and delicious to try out. The place itself is very nice and the people working there are some of the friendliest people you’ll find in Gracia. Another great thing is that portions are perfectly measured, you’ll never leave this place feeling hungry. The food is so tasty that in the end you wish that licking the plate would be socially acceptable. Yesterday is definitely one of the best restaurants in Barcelona and I will definitely return there many times.“
Rafa – “Yesterday is definitely one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Barcelona. The atmosphere is super friendly, service is excellent and the food is incredible. I really admire the concept of the restaurant and the fact that the team pursue such a challenging activity, changing a restaurant menu so often is definitely not an easy task. Out of the different dishes I’ve tried at Yesterday it’s always been difficult to pic my favourite. Once I had a carrot ginger soup that was unforgettable, another time some scrumptious entraña with chimichurri, and on a separate occasion I had a very unique “ensaladilla rusa”, which was I believe its the best ensaladilla I’ve ever had. The amount of creativity that goes into these dishes is simply unparalleled. There’s few places that I can recommend with absolutely zero doubts, and this is one of them.”
